Spartan S.A.L.T. Hosts Welcome to Paramus Day for Kindergarteners

On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, the first day of school for all Paramus students, the Spartan Student-Athlete Leadership Team (S.A.L.T.) embarked on a very special inaugural event. The team, consisting of approximately 25 Paramus High School student-athletes, introduced itself to the district with a Welcome to Paramus Day for children entering kindergarten at all five of the township’s elementary schools!

After welcoming Paramus’ future Spartans with signs and cheers, S.A.L.T. members hosted receptions for the kindergarteners and their parents at the very schools they attended as elementary students. It was a celebratory and community-building day enjoyed by all involved, so much so that it hopes to become an annual tradition.

Founded in the 2024–2025 school year, the Spartan S.A.L.T. gives student-athletes a voice in both their individual athletics programs and in the Paramus public schools community as a whole. The team encourages Paramus High School students to lead by example and cultivate their leadership skills inside and outside of the classroom and their chosen sport. The S.A.L.T. members work to promote what it means to be a true Spartan, both on and off the field, court, track, and mat.

Special thanks to our director of athletics, Mr. Derek England, for making this happen, and best of luck to the members of the Paramus High School class of 2037!
